The British Rail Class 76, also known as Class EM1 (Electric Mixed-Traffic 1), is a class of kV DC, Bo+Bo electric locomotive designed for use on the now-closed Woodhead Line in Northern simplicityhsd.comr: LNER Doncaster Works (prototype) BR Gorton . The A4 Class locomotives were known by train spotters as "streaks". The streamlining side skirts (valances) designed by Oliver Bulleid to aerofoil shape that were fitted to all the A4 locomotives, were removed during the Second World War to improve access Builder: LNER Doncaster Works.
